Two thousand and twelve.

Unlike the year ‘11, which apparently preferred the slow and heavy pace of time, the year 2012 seemed to sift through my walls of existence like it just made no effort to get noticed. It went by without the slightest warning that it’s about to sweep everything on its way, along all its memories, achievements, downfalls, and precious little seconds. And pleased with its skillful conniving talents, it left me built and hungry.

It didn’t necessarily take me by storm, but it wasn’t exactly passive either. I did conquer its twelve pleasingly gruesome months; sometimes with a fist pumped in the air, and sometimes with a pair of hooded eyes glued to the ground. A year mixed with opened doors and falling debris.

Beginnings and acquaintances. Either I point a finger on fate or my nonexistent social skills, but hey, who’s blaming? 2012 gets a kick in the shin for doubting that I can’t escape my shell because HEY, Yaine is finally learning not to stammer every time she tries to talk to someone, may it be personally or virtually! I met a lot of people through this whole course of time. Some, I’ve admired and continue to look up to. Some proved to me that distance and language barrier is almost never a problem if intentions are only genuine. And some, for various weird reasons, gives me the assurance that they are for keepsakes.

Contentment and comfortableness. Contemplation on my college and career decisions used to happen nonstop and the all-too-late questions and rusty what-if’s just never seemed to end. But somehow, belongingness made its way to me and all I could do is accept it with open arms. My exposure and knowledge to arts and social issues have never been this rich and prosperous. Grateful for the quick chances that come with subtlety yet noticeable knocks, I am loving my place in this growing entirety and am doing my best to stay in love.

Diversity with familiarity. When distance is too abstract and time is too irrelevant, only the momentary chances do we choose to mark. Planned or unplanned, the conversations, shrills and cackles are almost similar from once upon a time. It almost seems that we meet and automatically pick up from where we just left off. Sure, there are a hundred more new stories and changes. But the familiarity that seeps in to everyone’s skin gets pretty beautiful and resounding to the body. For it’s more than a place I can gladly turn to, whenever.

Sincerity and worth. To say that health is wealth is an understatement. Health is everything. We strive to keep our loved-ones clear of any misreading and positive result. We work hard, for when emergencies come up, we are ready with the unspoken issues of financial and emotional management. We strive to stay okay. Maybe not perfectly fit and healthful. But at least we try our best to stay fine. Through surgical operations, newly-bought walking-aids and countless pharmaceutical needs, the tightly-knitted bond that emerges silently from every member of the family tramples all over the unsaid worries. And I believe that this is more than enough.

To the people I am fortunate to have overlapped threads with on society’s multicolored fabric. [thank you tlist, noonars, dongsaengs, pandadas, and all other amazing people i’ve encountered(that includes you twelve dumb people in my heart *vomits EXO*)]

To the people I’ve crossed path with, and continue to do so. [thank you univ, org, blockmates, coursemates, and ofc the most byootiful ladies/turtles (you know who you are hihi)]

To the people who continue to give me a home I can come back to. (thank you cwalk, 7xi)

To the people who simultaneously act as my front shield and my back armor. (thank you family)

And a high-five for moi for braving independence, embracing solidarity, and adapting to the cracks.

Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts.

The first part is called “The Pledge”. The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course… it probably isn’t.

The second act is called “The Turn”. The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret… but you won’t find it, because of course you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to know. You want to be fooled.

But you wouldn’t clap yet. Because making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back. That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call “The Prestige”.

Hands down. Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige is that type of movie you could watch twice in a day and still feel a sense of amazement and refreshment. Now that’s magic.

I love multiple celebrations merged into one! :) July 01 was my cousin Abby’s christening, Tita Anna (Abby’s mom) birthday, and Tito Epi’s birthday! The party was really for the binyag actually. But Tito Epi can’t help but pretend it was his green-and-pink-themed party and even told me to take pictures of him and the guests, lmao. All taken at D’Place, BF Homes, Paranaque. :)

Watched the Ever Bilena Binibining Sta. Cruz talent portion this afternoon in Sunstar Mall with my Dad! We came to support my cousin, Alexza, but of course I was all cheers for Ate Alyanna, too! They both did great! Ate Alyanna sang live and danced to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way while Alex danced to T-ara’s Roly Poly. I’m not being mean or anything, but for a viewer, the others were just… meh. If I were them, I would have danced Hyuna’s Bubble Pop. Bam! Sure win! (lmfao)

Anyway, I was too far from the stage (wish I had zoom lens though! D:), but I guess cropping did the trick!

Just something from yesterday’s outing at Laiya, Batangas with the Romeros. :D It was actually quite fun and better than I expected since I wasn’t really that close with my cousins from this side of the family. That’s their boat actually—they went snorkeling while I was getting my henna tattoo done, boohoo. But anyhoo, it felt good spending summer time with these people!
